Last night we enjoyed an evening of Czech food and entertainment! Out of about 300 guests in this restaurant, I was selected, along with about 8 others to dance, Czech style. The entertainers paired me up with an elderly man and we were taught a simple step. Gene wasn't able to get a clear photo of "my performance". Trust me, you are not missing anything!

This morning after another lovely breakfast in the hotel dining room, Gene and I ventured out to a self-service laundry. Seriously, it was not easy to find! The directions we received from yesterday's tour guide and the hotel concierge were quite vague. We finally made it there, walking about 20 minutes, pulling a suitcase filled with dirty clothes over cobblestone sidewalks. Again....quite a picture!

Made it back to the hotel in time for a brief stop upstairs to our room & across the street to a grocery store to pick up a sandwich before meeting our small group of 11 people for another adventure. We were off (about a 1 hour drive by coach) to the town of Terezin. We toured The "Small Fortress" that was built at the end of the 18th century. This fortress was used almost from its very beginnings as a prison for army offenders. Later it was used by the Nazi regime for Jewish inmates before being sent on to concentration camps. Other inmates included anyone who was in resistance to the Nazi regime. As you have noticed in the photos, this place was very dismal and living conditions were awful! Many died in this "holding camp" as a result of diseases and torture by wardens and guards! It is simply dreadful to think of human beings being treated like this by other "human beings". We also toured a museum that housed many testimonies of the inmates & art work of children that were imprisoned in Terezin. Fascinating and dreadful at the same time!

Back this evening and out with new friends (2 LDS couples from Arizona & Orange County) to an authentic Czech dinner. We leave tomorrow at 12 pm for the airport and then off to Florence, Italy....on with our adventure!!!! I may not post for a day or so due to our late arrival time (11 pm) in Florence and then up and touring at 9 am. love to all!
